If you’re like most people, you probably use Outlook to manage your email, calendar, and other important files. But what if you want to move some of these files around? You can’t just drag them around like a toy! Outlook doesn’t support moving folders by themselves. You need to use the Move tool. The Move tool is a menu item in the Tools menu. To use the Move tool, first open Outlook and click on the Tools button in the top left corner of the screen. Then click on the Move button. The Move tool will ask you how you want to move your file. You can either drag it or drop it. If you drag it, Outlook will automatically create a new folder for your file and put it inside that new folder. If you drop it, Outlook will ask you how you want to name your new folder. You can either choose a name or leave it blank and Outlook will name the new folder according to your choice. When finished moving your file, click on the OK button to close Outlook and return to normal mode.

In the Navigation Pane under Mail Folders just right click the folder located in the wrong spot and select Move “folder name”.

In the Move Folder dialogue box (you won’t be able to drag and drop) Highlight the correct location to move the folder.  In this example I want it in my Inbox folder.  Click OK and that’s it.  The folder will now appear where you originally meant it to.
