If you want to select text vertically in Microsoft Word, there are a few different ways to go about it. The easiest way is to use the keyboard. To select text vertically using the keyboard, first make sure that the cursor is positioned at the beginning of the text you want to select. Then press and hold down the Ctrl key while pressing the up arrow key on your keyboard. This will move the cursor up one line at a time, and as long as you keep pressing the up arrow key, it will keep moving up until it reaches the end of the text. Once you’ve reached the end of the text, release both keys and your selection will be complete. Another way to select text vertically is to use one of Microsoft Word’s selection tools. The most common selection tool is called “Select All,” which can be found under Edit > Select > Select All or by pressing Ctrl+A (PC) or Command+A (Mac). This tool will select all of the text in your document, no matter where it is located. If you only want part of your document selected, you can use one of Microsoft Word’s other selection tools instead. For example, if you want to select just a paragraph or sentence, you can use “Select Text” under Edit > Select > Select Text or by pressing Ctrl+T (PC) or Command+T (Mac). This tool will allow you to type in a specific location within your document where you want your selection to start and then it will automatically start selecting from that point forward. ..

Did you realize you can select text vertically? All you have to do is hold down the Alt key, and you can make a vertical selection.

For example, I want to delete the first two words from each item in this list, so I hold down the Alt key and make a selection around the area:

Now I can cut, copy, or just delete the selection.

You can make a vertical selection anywhere in the document, not just with lists. It’s probably more useful when dealing with a similar scenario.
