Firefox is a great browser and it’s one of the most popular ones on the market. However, sometimes you may want to manually type in some URLs so that Firefox will automatically complete them for you. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open Firefox and click on the three lines in the top left corner of the window. This will open a menu where you can select “Options.”
  2. In the “Options” menu, select “Auto-Complete.”
  3. Now, type in some URLs and press OK to save your changes. Firefox will automatically complete all of them for you!

After just a few minutes of research, I found a setting that will make Firefox only auto-complete the links that you type in manually. This is helpful when you use a lot of bookmarklets or search keywords from the address bar.

Keep in mind that this setting is not for everybody, but it’s good to understand how things work.

To make this change, type about:config into the address bar, and then filter by the following key:

Double-click on the value to change it to true, and you should immediately notice that links from the history will no longer auto-complete:

Of course, links that you’ve manually typed in will continue to automatically complete:

It’s great to have a browser where everybody can choose their own settings.
