If you’re like most people, you probably use both Microsoft Word 2007 and Microsoft Word 2003 on your computer. And if you’ve ever tried to save a document in the same format in both versions of Word, you know that it can be a pain. But with a few simple steps, you can always save your documents in the same format, regardless of which version of Word you’re using. Here’s how:

  1. Open the document that you want to save in the same format in both versions of Word.
  2. Click the File tab and then click Save As.
  3. In the Save As dialog box, click the Format tab and then select Microsoft Word 2007 from the list of formats. (If you’re using Microsoft Office 2010 or later, click Format and then select Microsoft Office 2010 from the list of formats.) ..

To change this setting, click on the Office Button in the upper left hand corner.

Now click the Word Options button in the menu.

Click on the Save tab, and then change the drop-down menu for “Save files in this format” to be “Word 97-2003 Document”.

Now you won’t send the wrong format by accident anymore.
