If you’re like most people, you probably have multiple windows open at any given time - your email inbox, your work document, your social media feed, and so on. But is it really necessary to keep all of these windows open at the same time? Actually, it’s not. In fact, by opening different windows in separate windows sessions, you can improve your productivity significantly. Here’s how:

  1. Start by opening your email inbox in a new window. This will minimize the distraction of all the other open windows and allow you to focus on your email without being interrupted.
  2. Open a new document or spreadsheet in another window and start working on it. This will keep you organized and focused on the task at hand instead of being distracted by other open windows.
  3. Open up a social media account or website in a new window so that you can stay up-to-date without being overwhelmed by all the other notifications popping up on your screen.
  4. Finally, if you need to check something else but don’t want to switch out of your current window session, try using sticky notes or flags to flag certain items as “important” so that they’ll always be front and center when you need them. This way, even if other windows get closed accidentally or you lose focus for a moment, everything will still be where you left it! ..

Outlook 2007

Open up Outlook and in the Navigation Pane right-click Calendar and select Open in New Window.

Now you can do this for any feature you want to have open in a new window. For example here we have Calendar, Contacts, and Mail each open in their own separate window.

Now if you’re using Windows 7 you can easily switch between windows with the new Taskbar.

Or you can use the “Alt+Tab” key combination if you prefer especially in earlier versions.

The process is the same for Outlook 2010…

And and for Outlook 2003 as well.

This is a simple tip, but can be very effective in helping you get work done easier and more quickly.
