If you’re a Windows XP user, there are a few power toys that you can use to make your life easier. One is the “Task Manager.” This tool lets you see all the tasks that are currently running on your computer, as well as the tasks that have been added recently. You can also see how many resources each task uses, and how much time it has taken so far. Another tool is the “Start Menu.” This tool lets you quickly access all of the programs that are installed on your computer. You can also access programs and files that are hidden from view by the Windows system. Finally, there is the “System Tools” folder. This folder contains tools that help with system performance and security issues. These tools include “Windows Defender,” “Windows Update,” and “Security Center.”
TweakUI – You can have all sorts of control over XP with this simple utility. Control your Desktop, how users logon, what drives show up and how they handle media … this is just a taste of what is possible with TweakUI. Later this month I will show you some tricks with this utility that will really change the XP experience.
Clear Type Tuner – This works good for getting text on your monitor to look more clear and sharp. I find this especially handy with older monitors.
Power Calculator – enhanced functions of a scientific calculator with the ability to graph points, do algebraic expressions among many other mathematical features.
This is just a sample of the many power toys available for XP. You can view all of them here.
