Windows Vista is a great operating system, but it has some problems that need to be fixed. One of these problems is the lack of optional components. This means that you have to install all the components that are required by Windows Vista in order to use it, and this can be a lot of work. Some people think that this is unnecessary work, and they argue that you can just use Windows 7 or 8 instead. But if you do this, you will have to deal with all the problems that Windows Vista has. For example, your computer will not work as well as it used to because there are now too many optional components installed.
Open up Control Panel and go to the Programs and Features section. Find the link for “Turn Windows features on or off” (or you could just search for it)
This dialog is quite self-explanatory… uncheck the things you don’t want, and hit the OK button. Depending on the version of Vista you are running you might not see everything in the list.
Guidelines, Not Set In Stone
